Context

According to various sources, there will be about 31 billion connected objects by the end of 2020, participating in an ecosystem known as the Internet of Things (IoT). The deployment of such a massive number of devices opens new opportunities but also comes with several challenges. Among those, being able to track moving devices in realtime is critical, in particular when it comes to precisely locate them indoor or in places where the signal of a satellite navigation system (GPS, Galileo, etc.) is weak or not available at all.

Objective

The goal of this project is to investigate how to integrate Quuppa, a new-generation of ultra-precise indoor positioning system, into a software platform supporting the communication between connected objects. In doing so, the student will learn how to deploy and programmatically use an indoor positioning system and how to leverage such a system to facilitate the creation of mobile context-aware applications. For this, the student is expected to have open and curious mindset and to be at ease with the discovery of new technologies.
